PARIS, April 8, 2026 — French President Emmanuel Macron said ties between France and Cambodia are deepening across key sectors following talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Paris.

In a statement after their meeting, Macron thanked Hun Manet for attending the One Health Summit in Lyon and for bilateral discussions held in the French capital.

“Between Cambodia and France, our history is deep and continues to strengthen in areas such as energy, health and heritage,” Macron said.

He added that cooperation through the Francophonie framework remains a key pillar of relations, noting that the next Francophonie summit will be held in Phnom Penh, which he plans to attend in November.

The planned visit would provide “another opportunity to further strengthen the ties that unite us,” Macron said.

The meeting comes as Cambodia and France seek to expand cooperation across multiple sectors, including public health, cultural preservation and sustainable development, while building on longstanding historical and linguistic links.

Hun Manet is currently in France for a working visit, where he is also participating in the One Health Summit, a global platform addressing interconnected challenges in human, animal and environmental health.
