Malaysia Welcomes Cambodia–Thailand Ceasefire, Reaffirms ASEAN’s Commitment to Peace
Kuala Lumpur, 30 December 2025 — Malaysian Prime Minister H.E. Anwar Ibrahim has welcomed the successful maintenance of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, describing it as a clear demonstration of the two countries’ strong determination to uphold global peace and stability through diplomacy.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Prime Minister Anwar noted that the ceasefire, achieved through negotiations held in China, reflects the spirit and principles of the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord, underscoring the effectiveness of dialogue and peaceful engagement in resolving complex disputes.
He emphasized that the collective role played by all parties involved in ensuring peace and tranquility carries far-reaching benefits that extend beyond Cambodia and Thailand, contributing positively to Malaysia, ASEAN, and the international community at large. Peace, he stressed, remains the essential foundation for shared well-being, sustainable development, and long-term prosperity.
