Pattaya Raid Uncovers Secret Drug-Mixing Room and Overseas Delivery Records
PATTAYA, Thailand, Sept. 26, 2026 — Thai police have arrested a 42-year-old American man of Chinese descent after uncovering a concealed drug-mixing room inside his home in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri, authorities said.
The raid, conducted on Sept. 25 and reported the following day, resulted in the seizure of nearly 60 grams of suspected MDMA, or ecstasy, along with ketamine and equipment allegedly used to mix, package and distribute narcotics. Thai media reported that police also found records on the suspect’s phone containing drug-mixing formulas and names and delivery addresses in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Police identified the suspect only as Mr Liu. He was taken to Nong Prue Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Police uncover sealed drug-mixing room
The operation was carried out by officers from the Consumer Protection Police Division and Immigration Bureau Division 3 after investigators received information that Liu was allegedly supplying drugs to foreigners in Thailand and overseas.
Following an investigation, officers obtained a search warrant from the Pattaya Provincial Court and raided the residence at about 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 25.
Inside the house, police discovered a room whose windows had been completely sealed. Investigators said the room had been converted into a concealed area for mixing and preparing drugs.
Officers found suspected powder and crystalline substances on a table, along with two digital scales, an aluminium mortar and pestle, a heat-sealing machine, measuring glasses, laboratory beakers, syringes and numerous 5-by-7-centimetre zip-lock bags.
Police also found caffeine, glucose, sucralose, pineapple flavouring, coffee powder and milk-flavour powder, which investigators said could have been used in preparing drug mixtures designed to resemble sweets or drinks.
MDMA and ketamine found at residence
Police said they recovered light-brown crystalline MDMA weighing nearly 60 grams. Some of the suspected MDMA was reportedly found near a sink behind the house close to the kitchen, while another quantity was discovered inside a safe.
The raid resulted in the seizure of 27 categories of evidence, according to Thai reports, including narcotics, suspected ingredients, packaging materials and equipment allegedly connected with drug preparation and distribution.
Ketamine was also among the substances seized.
Phone contains drug formulas and Kuala Lumpur addresses
Investigators subsequently examined Liu’s mobile phone and reportedly found notes containing formulas for mixing MDMA, ketamine and caffeine in different quantities depending on the number of users.
Police said the formulas corresponded with substances discovered inside the house.
The phone also reportedly contained names and delivery addresses in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, prompting investigators to examine whether the alleged operation had an international distribution component.
Police have not publicly established that drugs were actually delivered to the individuals or addresses listed in the phone, and the Malaysian links remain part of the investigation.
Suspect denies selling drugs
Liu reportedly admitted that the seized drugs and equipment belonged to him but told investigators that the substances were intended solely for his personal use.
Police said they did not accept that explanation, citing the quantity of suspected narcotics, the mixing equipment, packaging materials and information found on his phone.
He faces charges including possession of MDMA, a Category 1 narcotic, allegedly for commercial distribution, possession of ketamine, a Category 2 psychotropic substance, and use of a Category 1 narcotic identified by police as methamphetamine.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities examine the suspect’s alleged customers, contacts and possible distribution routes in Thailand and abroad.
