Singapore welcomes Cambodia’s interest in CPTPP Dr. Sok Siphana, Cambodia’s Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions and Chairman of the Cambodia Trade Policy Advisory Board (Left) and Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan

Singapore, 14 January 2026 — Singapore has welcomed Cambodia’s interest in joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said on today.

In a statement published on his official social media account, Balakrishnan said he met Dr. Sok Siphana, Cambodia’s Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions and Chairman of the Cambodia Trade Policy Advisory Board, who is in Singapore on a study visit.

The two officials discussed challenges facing the global trading system and ways small, open economies such as Singapore and Cambodia can cooperate to strengthen economic resilience and unlock new opportunities, Balakrishnan said.

He added that Cambodia’s potential accession to the CPTPP would help deepen its integration into regional value chains, expand market access, and enhance investor confidence.

Cambodia has been seeking to diversify trade partnerships and attract investment as part of its broader economic integration strategy.
