NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, April 29, 2026 — Six people were injured after gunfire broke out at a wedding in southern Thailand following a dispute between guests from the bride’s and groom’s sides, police said.

The incident occurred early Wednesday in Tha Sala district, where officers were called to the scene at around 3:30 a.m. Rescue teams had already transported the injured to hospital.

One victim, a 24-year-old man, was in critical condition after being shot in the head and was later transferred to a provincial hospital for further treatment.

Police said the violence began during a concert at the wedding, when teenagers from both families argued and briefly fought before being separated. Tensions later escalated after the ceremony ended, as both groups continued drinking and clashed again.

Gunfire was then reported, with several bullets striking bystanders who were not involved in the dispute.

Two suspects, one from each group, were detained at a hospital where they had gone for treatment. Police said two firearms were seized and investigations are ongoing.

Authorities said the suspects could face charges including attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms.

The incident adds to a series of recent violent episodes linked to social gatherings in Thailand. In a separate case in Bangkok, gunmen opened fire at a wedding event, killing one person and injuring four others.
