SURIN, Feb 24, 2026 — A fire broke out at an oil storage facility belonging to Border Patrol Police Company 21 in Thailand’s Surin province on Tuesday evening, with explosions reported at the scene.

The blaze began around 7:30 p.m., according to Fire & Rescue Thailand, which said firefighters were working to contain the flames.

Video circulating on social media showed large flames and thick smoke rising from the facility, with intermittent explosions believed to be linked to fuel storage tanks.

Authorities urged motorists to clear roads to allow emergency vehicles access to the site. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Surin province borders Cambodia in northeastern Thailand.

Emergency crews remained at the scene as efforts continued to bring the fire under control.
