Thai Defense Minister Says No Ceasefire Order Issued, Conditions Halt on Cambodia Ending Hostilities Thailand’s Defense Minister, General Natthaphon Narkphanit

Bangkok, 13 December 2025 — Thailand’s Defense Minister, General Natthaphon Narkphanit, confirmed on Saturday that no ceasefire directive has been issued to the Thai military, stressing that a ceasefire will not be implemented until Cambodia is deemed to have fully ceased what Thailand describes as hostile actions.

Addressing public confusion surrounding reports of an imminent ceasefire, General Natthapol clarified that the Thai government has not authorized any cessation of military operations, underscoring that the armed forces remain on active footing pending what he termed a clear end to hostilities by the Cambodian side.

The statement was reported earlier today by Khaosod English, a Thai local media outlet, following remarks made by the Defense Minister on 13 December.

Later the same day, General Natthapol is scheduled to preside over the royal cremation ceremony of Corporal Chawakon Detkhuntod, a member of the 4th Infantry Battalion, 11th Regiment of the Royal Thai Army, who was killed on 9 December while on duty at Ban Ton Phayung Base, Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, near the Thai–Cambodian border. The ceremony will be held at Nong Bua Temple in Saraburi Province.

The remarks come amid continued international calls for restraint, dialogue, and adherence to ceasefire commitments aimed at preventing further escalation along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
