Thai Drones Detected Violating Cambodian Airspace, Interior Ministry Says
Phnom Penh, 9 January 2026 — The Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia reported that on the night of 7 January 2026, the Thai side conducted unauthorized drone operations within Cambodia’s sovereign airspace, deploying two drones over Pursat Province and twenty-five drones over Preah Vihear Province.
The Ministry stated that these activities constitute a clear violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, raising serious concerns and undermining ongoing efforts to maintain calm, trust, and stability along the border.
Cambodia strongly reaffirms its commitment to peace, restraint, and the peaceful resolution of disputes through diplomatic and established mechanisms, while urging full respect for sovereignty, international norms, and existing agreements to prevent further escalation.
