BANGKOK, March 31, 2026 — Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn has formally endorsed a new cabinet under Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, clearing the way for the government to take office, according to a Royal Gazette announcement on Tuesday.

The royal approval allows the newly appointed ministers to be sworn in before the king, after which the government is expected to present its policy agenda to parliament before officially assuming their duties.

Anutin was elected prime minister by Thailand’s parliament on March 19 following a general election in February. He secured more than 250 votes, surpassing the threshold required to lead the government.

His Bhumjaithai Party won 191 seats in the 500-member House of Representatives and subsequently formed a coalition with 16 parties, including the Pheu Thai Party, giving the alliance a combined total of 292 seats.

The formation of the new cabinet marks a key step in Thailand’s political transition as the government prepares to outline its economic and policy priorities in the coming weeks.
