Thai supreme court’s criminal division sentences Thaksin Shinawatra to one year in prison
BANGKOK – The Criminal Division of the Supreme Court for Holders of Political Positions has sentenced former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to one year in prison, following the reduction of his earlier pardon.
The ruling was handed down after the court concluded its investigation into matters surrounding the conviction. Thaksin was immediately transferred to Bangkok Remand Prison to begin serving his sentence.
The decision marks the latest development in ongoing legal proceedings against the former Thai leader.
