PHATTHALUNG, April 13, 2026 — A Thai man reported missing for a week has been found dead in a remote forest area in southern Thailand, with a bullet lodged in his skull, police said.

The victim, identified as Yuttana, 29, also known as Kim, was discovered late on April 10 in dense terrain above the Khlong Hua Chang reservoir in Tamot district.

Rescue teams reached the site after a villager reported finding a man in distress earlier in the day. However, by the time emergency responders arrived, the victim had died. The area is difficult to access, requiring a combination of boat travel and trekking through forested hills.

Initial forensic examination at the scene found a bullet lodged in the victim’s head, along with multiple abrasions and a deep wound on the right side of the skull.

Police said the man had entered the forest with three companions but became separated during the trip. He had been missing for seven days before being located.

A local hunter who first encountered the victim told authorities the man was still conscious at the time and was able to identify himself.

Investigators from Tamot Police Station are working to establish the sequence of events leading to the death, including how the group became separated and the circumstances surrounding the gunshot wound.

The body has been sent to a hospital in Songkhla province for a full post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, with police continuing to question witnesses and gather evidence from the area.
