BANGKOK, Jan 18, 2026 — Thailand has expressed concern over the portrayal of the country in the Cambodian film Ghost Mountain: Second Killing Field, warning that creative works should not be used to distort history or incite hostility.

In a statement issued by the Thailand–Cambodia Situation Information Centre, Thai authorities responded after Cambodian media used language describing Thailand as having “invaded Cambodia,” urging all parties to adopt constructive and non-provocative wording.

The centre said harsh or judgmental language could complicate the situation and undermine efforts to ease tensions, adding that depictions of conflict should be grounded in verifiable facts and consider their impact on relations between the two peoples.

Thailand reiterated its commitment to de-escalation, saying it would continue to uphold sovereignty under international law, exercise restraint, protect civilians and humanitarian principles, and seek solutions through dialogue and mutually agreed mechanisms.
