U.S.-ASEAN Business Council to Establish First-Ever Office in Cambodia
On 2 December 2025, H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, held a working meeting with a high-level delegation from the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council, led by H.E. Ted Osius, Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director, as the United States continues expanding its business presence in Cambodia.
During the meeting, H.E. Ted Osius highlighted that, for the first time in the Council’s 41-year history, a permanent operational office will be established in Cambodia. He described this step as a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral economic ties between the two countries.
Minister Hem Vanndy warmly welcomed the Council’s decision, emphasizing that Cambodia’s industrial modernization, innovation-driven growth, and readiness to graduate from Least Developed Country (LDC) status require deeper strategic partnerships with global investors.
He stated:
“Every visit of the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council to Cambodia has further strengthened our bilateral cooperation. We see substantial opportunities for U.S. companies expanding their presence here, particularly in advancing industrial development, technology, and encouraging greater private sector engagement.”
The meeting also heard from representatives of major U.S. companies, including Ford, 3M, and Visa, who focused on automotive sector policies, industrial safety, technology collaboration, and expanding digital financial services for small and medium-sized enterprises. Representatives from the U.S. Embassy expressed their strong support for the further expansion of bilateral commercial relations.
Minister Hem Vanndy invited U.S. companies to participate in Cambodia’s National Science, Technology, and Innovation Day in March 2026, demonstrating Cambodia’s commitment to innovation, industrial advancement, and a modern partnership with the United States in shaping its economic future.
