U.S. Indo-Pacific commander meets Cambodian PM on defence ties

PHNOM PENH, Jan 26, 2026 — The U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh on Monday welcomed Samuel J. Paparo, commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, to Cambodia, underscoring continued engagement between the two countries on defence and regional security.
During the visit, Adm. Paparo met with Hun Manet for discussions on the U.S.–Cambodia defence relationship, avenues to strengthen bilateral cooperation, and support for regional stability, the embassy said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.
The embassy said both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together to uphold a free and open Indo-Pacific, highlighting shared interests in peace, security and cooperation in the region.
The visit comes amid broader U.S. engagement with Southeast Asian partners as Washington seeks to reinforce security cooperation and maintain stability across the Indo-Pacific.
