UN Pledges Continued Backing for Cambodia’s Growth Agenda
PHNOM PENH, March 2, 2026 — The United Nations resident coordinator in Cambodia reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to supporting the country’s socio-economic development during talks with Prime Minister Hun Manet on Monday, officials said.
Vladanka Andreeva met Hun Manet at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, marking her second mission in the country. She praised Cambodia’s two decades of participation in UN peacekeeping operations and commended cooperation between Cambodian institutions and UN agencies.
Andreeva said UN agencies would continue strengthening partnerships with the government to support Cambodia’s socio-economic development, aligned with the government’s “Pentagonal Strategy,” particularly in job creation, upskilling and human capital development.
Hun Manet welcomed the continued UN engagement and expressed appreciation for its support as Cambodia prepares to graduate from Least Developed Country (LDC) status in 2029. He also highlighted recent productive discussions with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and other senior UN officials during visits to Europe.
The prime minister briefed the UN coordinator on recent developments along the Cambodia–Thailand border, reiterating Phnom Penh’s commitment to resolving disputes peacefully in accordance with international law and existing bilateral agreements.
Andreeva said the United Nations hopes both countries will address differences through peaceful dialogue, in line with the UN Charter and international law.
