HANOI, March 1, 2026 — Vietnam and Cambodia have agreed to accelerate the implementation of high-level strategic agreements reached during a landmark state visit earlier this month, officials said on Sunday.

A delegation led by Vietnam’s Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu met with Cambodia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun in Phnom Penh on Friday to follow up on commitments made at a February 6 summit between senior leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Cambodian People’s Party.

Vietnam’s leaders have dispatched the working group to demonstrate Hanoi’s political determination to translate broad political agreements into concrete programmes and clear cooperation roadmaps, the Vietnamese side said, adding that the move aims to deliver tangible outcomes for both countries.

Vietnam praised Cambodia’s recent economic performance and expressed confidence that Phnom Penh will continue on its development trajectory, including achieving middle-income status. Cambodia reiterated its prioritisation of strong bilateral ties with Vietnam and voiced support for Hanoi’s long-term development goals.

Officials from both sides emphasised prompt and responsible efforts to implement strategic orientations and strengthen long-term, sustainable cooperation, signalling a fresh push to deepen neighbourly relations and expand collaboration across multiple sectors.
