Washington, D.C., 31 December 2025 — The United States has welcomed the continued efforts of the governments of Cambodia and Thailand to uphold the ceasefire agreement reached on 27 December 2025, underscoring the importance of dialogue and restraint in advancing lasting peace and regional stability.

In an official press statement issued on 31 December, Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Pigott, Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the U.S. Department of State, affirmed that the sustained observance of the ceasefire reflects the firm commitment of both Cambodia and Thailand to peace through the full and faithful implementation of the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accords.

The United States further welcomed Thailand’s release of 18 Cambodian soldiers as a constructive and confidence-building measure, describing the move as a positive step toward restoring neighborly relations and rebuilding mutual trust between the two countries.

Washington reiterated its readiness to continue supporting both governments as they move forward with the critical implementation measures agreed upon under the Joint Declaration of 26 October 2025, emphasizing that consistent adherence to these commitments remains essential for consolidating peace and ensuring long-term stability along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
