43-Year-Old Russian National Found Dead in Phuket Condo
PHUKET, Aug. 31, 2026 — A 43-year-old Russian man was found dead inside a condominium room in Kathu district, Phuket, with police estimating that he may have been dead for approximately three days before his body was discovered on August 30.
Police were alerted at around 9pm to a reported death at room 24/89 of The Scene condominium in Kathu subdistrict.
Lt Col Natthayan Suphanphong, an investigator with Kathu Police Station, informed station chief Pol Col Chalermchai Hernsawat before traveling to the condominium to investigate the incident.
Police, Kathu district officials and a forensic doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital inspected the room.
The man, identified as Maksim Tarasov, was found lying face down beside the bed in the bedroom.
An initial examination found no signs of a struggle or other suspicious circumstances inside the room. His personal belongings and valuables also appeared to be intact.
A forensic doctor estimated that Tarasov had died approximately three days before his body was discovered.
However, the cause of death has not yet been determined.
Rescuers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation transported the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a detailed autopsy to establish the cause of death.
Police said they would coordinate with the Russian Embassy to contact Tarasov’s relatives and assist with arrangements concerning his body.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities awaiting the results of the autopsy.
