Bangkok Beauty Clinic Raided Over Illegal Injectable Whitening Products
BANGKOK, May 20, 2026 — Thai authorities have raided an alleged illegal skin-whitening serum operation in Bangkok, seizing more than 35,000 cosmetic, pharmaceutical and medical items worth over 22 million baht ($600,000), officials said.
The operation was carried out by Thailand’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) following complaints from the public and concerns over the misuse of cosmetic registrations.
Police searched a beauty clinic, storage facility and residence linked to the business and confiscated products including unregistered medicines, cosmetics and medical devices.
Investigators said the suspects allegedly manufactured glutathione-based products marketed as skin-whitening injections while registering them as cosmetics to avoid stricter pharmaceutical regulations.
Authorities said the products were mixed with saline solution and administered to clients through injections at cosmetic clinics despite lacking proper approval for injectable use.
Officials also accused the operators of falsely marketing the products as imported items and misleading consumers about their safety and origin.
Those involved are expected to face multiple charges under Thailand’s laws governing cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, including offences related to false labelling, unauthorized imports and the sale of unapproved medical products.
FDA Secretary-General Supatra Boonserm said injectable substances posed significant health risks and required strict safety evaluations before being approved for public use.
Central Investigation Bureau Commissioner Lt. Gen. Natsak Chewnasai warned that injecting unapproved products could lead to severe allergic reactions, infections and other serious complications.
Thai authorities said the crackdown formed part of broader efforts to combat illegal cosmetic and medical businesses and to raise public awareness about the dangers of unverified beauty treatments.
