Russian Tourist Hospitalised After Robbery and Assault by Three Men in Pattaya
PATTAYA, Thailand, Sept. 14, 2026 — A 42-year-old Russian tourist was injured and robbed by three men in Pattaya early Monday morning, with police reviewing CCTV footage as they work to identify and arrest the suspects.
The incident occurred at around 1:20 a.m. on September 14 in Soi Thapphraya 9, Pattaya, Chonburi province, according to local police and rescue officials.
The victim was identified as Roman Monnov, 42, a Russian national. Rescue workers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya provided first aid at the scene before taking him to a nearby hospital for treatment.
After receiving medical treatment, Monnov gave a statement to police and accompanied officers to the scene to indicate where the attack took place.
A 29-year-old Thai bystander, Phanuphong, told police that he heard a disturbance in the soi and initially thought a road accident had occurred. When he went to investigate, he allegedly saw a Thai man attacking the Russian tourist and kicking him in the face.
According to the witness, two other Thai men were waiting nearby on a motorcycle while the assault took place.
The attacker allegedly grabbed the tourist’s bag before joining the other two men. The three suspects then fled the area together on the same automatic motorcycle.
The stolen bag reportedly contained approximately 1,000 baht in cash, along with important personal documents and the tourist’s credit cards.
Police at Pattaya City Police Station have assigned investigators to examine CCTV recordings along routes believed to have been used by the suspects after the attack.
Officers are working to establish the identities and whereabouts of all three suspects and bring them in for legal proceedings.
The incident comes amid continued efforts by Pattaya authorities to strengthen security in the major tourist destination, which has recently seen increased attention to the safety of foreign visitors.
