British Man Injured in Attempted Phone Robbery in Pattaya
PATTAYA, Sept. 15, 2026 — A 45-year-old British man was injured after two Thai men allegedly attacked him during an attempted phone robbery near Jomtien Soi 15 in Pattaya early Tuesday morning, police and rescue workers said.
The victim, identified as Anand, suffered bruising and a cut extending from his left temple toward his ear that appeared to have been caused by a sharp object. His mobile phone was not taken during the incident.
The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Unit received a report of the attack at about 1:35 a.m. at the entrance to Jomtien Beach Soi 15. Rescue workers and officers from Pattaya City Police Station subsequently attended the scene.
According to a 20-year-old convenience-store employee identified as Duchdao, Anand entered the shop shortly after the incident seeking assistance.
She told investigators that Anand said two Thai men, who appeared to be intoxicated, had approached him on a motorcycle.
One of the men allegedly threatened him with a sharp weapon while the pair attempted to take his belongings. The suspects then allegedly assaulted Anand and tried to pull his mobile phone from him.
Anand resisted, and the attackers were unable to take the phone before fleeing the area on their motorcycle, according to the witness account.
Rescue workers administered first aid at the scene before taking Anand to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
Police review CCTV footage
Pattaya City Police have taken a formal complaint from Anand and dispatched investigators to examine the area surrounding the reported attack.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene and nearby roads in an effort to identify the motorcycle and locate the two suspects.
Police have not yet announced any arrests in connection with the case and are continuing their investigation, with legal action expected if the suspects are identified and evidence supports the allegations.
The incident comes amid a series of recent reports of foreign tourists and residents being targeted in violent incidents in Pattaya, prompting continued attention to security in popular tourist areas.
