Cambodia Deports 197 Thai Nationals Linked to Online Scams, Bars Re-entry for 3–5 Years
BANTEAY MEANCHEY, October 9, 2026 — Cambodian authorities have deported 197 Thai nationals, including 73 women, through the Poipet International Border Checkpoint and barred them from re-entering Cambodia for three to five years following their completion of prison sentences for online scam-related offences and other crimes.
The group was deported on Thursday through the Cambodia–Thailand Friendship Bridge at the Poipet International Border Checkpoint, opposite Thailand’s Khlong Luek border crossing, in Banteay Meanchey province.
According to the report, the deportations took place after all 197 individuals had completed their prison sentences in Siem Reap province for offences related to online scams and other criminal activities.
Following their removal from Cambodia, the Thai nationals were prohibited from returning to the country for periods ranging from three to five years.
The operation highlights Cambodia’s continued enforcement actions against foreign nationals convicted of online scam-related offences and other crimes, as authorities seek to address criminal activity involving online fraud.
