Masked Gunmen Kill Chinese Language School Director in Northern Thailand

CHIANG RAI, October 31, 2026 — The director of a Chinese-language evening school was shot dead inside the Ban Huai Sing Chinese School in northern Thailand’s Chiang Rai province on Friday morning, October 30, 2026.

Police are searching for approximately two suspects who were reportedly seen fleeing the scene after two gunshots were heard at around 11am in Mae Salong Nai, Mae Fah Luang district.

The victim, identified as Mr Sirisit, was rushed to Mae Fah Luang Hospital by relatives and school personnel but later died from his injuries.

Shooting Reported Inside School Meeting Room

Police Lieutenant Colonel Phatchasophon Nissai, an investigating officer at Mae Fah Luang Police Station, received notification of the shooting and reported the incident to station chief Police Colonel Sorachai Kanchanarujwiwat.

Officers and investigators subsequently arrived at the school, where the shooting reportedly took place inside a meeting room.

Initial inquiries indicated that Sirisit had been alone in the room before the attack. School staff also told investigators that several unidentified men had been seen walking and driving around the school grounds shortly before the shooting.

Witnesses reported hearing two gunshots at approximately 11am.

Masked Suspects Seen Fleeing

Police said two men wearing hats and face masks were seen escaping from an area behind the school shortly after the gunshots were heard.

When school staff went to investigate, they found Sirisit unconscious on the meeting room floor with gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe a 9mm firearm may have been used in the attack, although the weapon has not yet been confirmed.

School personnel and relatives immediately transported the victim to hospital, but his injuries were too severe and he later died.

Police Investigate Motive

Investigators have collected evidence from the school, questioned witnesses and people connected to the victim, and launched an investigation to identify those responsible.

Police have not yet disclosed a motive for the killing or identified any suspects publicly.

Authorities are continuing their search for the two men believed to have fled the scene.
