Washington, 12 December 2025 — President of the United States, His Excellency Donald J. Trump, announced that he held constructive and positive conversations with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, regarding the recent and deeply concerning escalation of fighting between the two neighboring countries.

President Trump stated that, following these discussions, both Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to immediately cease all shooting, with the ceasefire taking effect this evening, and to return fully to the original Peace Accord previously concluded with his facilitation, alongside the support of Malaysian Prime Minister H.E. Anwar Ibrahim.

The U.S. President noted that the initial roadside bomb incident, which resulted in Thai military casualties, was determined to have been an accident. However, he acknowledged that the situation subsequently escalated due to strong retaliation. He emphasized that both countries have now expressed readiness to restore peace and move forward constructively.

President Trump underscored that Cambodia and Thailand are prepared to pursue stability and continued cooperation, including sustained trade relations with the United States. He affirmed his personal commitment to assisting both leaders in resolving a crisis that could otherwise have developed into a major conflict between two nations with strong potential for peace and prosperity.

The President also extended his appreciation to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for his important role and assistance in facilitating dialogue and supporting de-escalation efforts in this critical matter.
