Phnom Penh, 13 December 2025 — The Royal Government of Cambodia, through the Ministry of Interior, announced on the afternoon of 13 December 2025 the full suspension of all entry and exit operations at every Cambodia–Thailand border checkpoint, effective immediately and until further notice.

According to the official press release, the decision was taken in response to the deteriorating border situation, in which the Thai side has been conducting repeated acts of aggression against Cambodia’s sovereignty, including indiscriminate military attacks that have resulted in civilian deaths and injuries, as well as significant damage to residential areas and physical infrastructure.

In light of these developments, the Royal Government of Cambodia has resolved to temporarily halt all cross-border travel and movement in order to ensure the safety and security of Cambodian citizens, Thai nationals, and foreign residents of all nationalities, particularly those who would otherwise be exposed to serious risks while crossing the border.

The Ministry of Interior clarified that Cambodian nationals currently residing and working in the Kingdom of Thailand are advised to remain there and continue their normal activities, while Thai nationals residing and working in Cambodia are likewise requested to remain in Cambodia until a full and effective ceasefire is implemented.

The Ministry has further instructed border provinces and all sub-national authorities nationwide to enhance vigilance and provide full protection and assistance, without discrimination, to Thai nationals and foreign residents, both in border areas and throughout the country, in the same manner as is afforded to Cambodian citizens.

At the same time, the Ministry of Interior of the Royal Government of Cambodia formally calls upon the Ministry of Interior of the Royal Government of Thailand to extend equivalent protection and assistance to Cambodian nationals currently residing in Thailand.

The Royal Government of Cambodia reaffirmed that the measure is temporary, preventive, and humanitarian in nature, undertaken solely to protect civilian lives amid the ongoing instability along the border.
