UK Welcomes Renewed Cambodia–Thailand Ceasefire, Urges Sustained Dialogue for Lasting Peace
London, 27 December 2025 — The United Kingdom has welcomed the renewed ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, underscoring the importance of continued dialogue and sustained implementation to ensure long-term peace and stability along the shared border.
In a statement, Ms. Seema Malhotra MP, UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific, described the ceasefire as positive and timely, stressing that it must now be followed by consistent adherence on the ground and constructive engagement between both sides.
The UK emphasized that ongoing dialogue, supported by ASEAN, will be critical in establishing the conditions necessary for a durable and peaceful resolution of the situation. London reaffirmed its support for regional, ASEAN-led efforts aimed at de-escalation, confidence-building, and the restoration of stability.
The British Government reiterated its broader commitment to peace, security, and the rules-based international order in the Indo-Pacific, encouraging all parties to work in good faith to transform the ceasefire into lasting peace.
