China hails Cambodia’s resolve to dismantle scam networks

PHNOM PENH, Jan 20, 2026 — China’s ambassador to Cambodia said on Tuesday he was confident in Cambodia’s commitment and capacity to combat technology-enabled fraud, pledging Beijing’s continued support as the two countries deepen security cooperation.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin made the remarks during a meeting with Chhay Sinarith, a senior Cambodian minister overseeing the national commission to combat online scams. Cambodian officials reaffirmed a firm stance on dismantling scam networks, prosecuting ringleaders and accomplices, and working with international partners to eradicate such crimes at their roots.

Wang praised Cambodia’s cooperation in arresting and repatriating Chinese nationals linked to online fraud for legal proceedings in China, describing the effort as evidence of tangible results and effective law enforcement coordination. He said China stands ready to continue assisting Cambodia to eliminate technology-related fraud and strengthen regional security cooperation.
