PHNOM PENH, Jan 21, 2026 — U.S. President Donald J. Trump has formally invited Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet to join a newly proposed international body known as the “Board of Peace,” according to a letter dated Jan. 16, 2026, issued by the White House.

In the letter, Trump said Cambodia was invited to become a founding member of the body, which he described as part of a broader initiative stemming from a “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict,” announced in September 2025 and later endorsed by a United Nations Security Council resolution in November.

The proposed Board of Peace would function as a new international organization and transitional governing mechanism aimed at conflict resolution and post-conflict governance.

Trump said member states would be able to designate representatives to participate on their behalf and that the Board’s charter had been opened for signature and ratification. He framed the initiative as an effort to bring together selected nations to help build what he called “lasting world peace,” adding that Cambodia’s participation would contribute to global stability and prosperity.

There has been no immediate public response from the Cambodian government regarding the invitation.
