Chuwit Says Young Thais Are Politically Naive and Lack Maturity
BANGKOK, Jan 24, 2026 — Chuwit Kamolvisit, a former politician and outspoken critic of the People’s Party, said young Thais under the age of 30 lack political maturity, during a televised debate on Thok Mai Thiang on ONE Channel.
Chuwit said there was no point engaging politically with people in that age group, arguing they do not think critically about politics.
“Don’t bother talking to them,” he said. “Their political thinking isn’t developed. They just follow celebrities and entertainment. They don’t really think.”
The programme’s host, Tin Chokkamolkit, pushed back, saying many young people today are interested in politics and public affairs.
Chuwit rejected that view, saying young voters may show interest but lack depth and understanding.
“They’re interested, but it’s shallow,” he said. “It’s emotional. They talk about happiness, the future of the country, and people’s well-being — but they don’t go deep.”
