PHNOM PENH, Feb. 4, 2026 — The United States said a historic port call by a U.S. Navy vessel to Cambodia reflects a deepening partnership and a shared commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific, as Washington marked the 250th anniversary of the country’s founding.

The United States Embassy in Phnom Penh said the departure last week of the USS Cincinnati from Ream Naval Base concluded the first-ever visit by a U.S. Navy ship to the base, calling the stopover a testament to longstanding diplomatic ties between the two countries.

During the port call, Samuel J. Paparo, commander of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, visited the vessel after holding talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and senior defense officials on strengthening bilateral and defense cooperation.

The embassy said the visit highlighted the enduring role of diplomacy in shaping regional stability and reaffirmed the shared vision of Cambodia and the United States for a free and open Indo-Pacific.
