Bangkok, Feb. 11, 2026 — Thailand’s acting prime minister Anutin Charnvirakul said on Wednesday it was too early to begin negotiations on coalition agreements or cabinet positions while final election results were still being certified.

Anutin said his party had seen more than 90% of votes counted but would wait for the Election Commission of Thailand to officially confirm the results before holding discussions on government formation.

“It is important to follow procedures and respect the voters’ decision,” he said, adding that any talks on alliances or cabinet appointments would take place only after formal certification.

He also dismissed suggestions that a future government under his leadership might struggle to complete a full term, saying political stability could be achieved under appropriate arrangements.

Thailand’s political parties are weighing possible alliances amid uncertainty in the post-election landscape as official tallies are finalized.
