Banteay Meanchey, Feb. 13, 2026 — The chief of the Philippine armed forces visited sites in Cambodia’s border province of Banteay Meanchey on Friday as part of preparations for Manila’s upcoming leadership of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT).

General Romeo S. Brawner Jr. toured locations in Serey Sophorn city, accompanied by representatives of Cambodia’s Coordination and Liaison Group (CLG), the Cambodian defence ministry said.

During the visit, Colonel Mohd Farid Bin Mohd Yusop, head of the ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia, briefed the delegation on the team’s operational progress.

Brawner is on a four-day official visit to Cambodia from Feb. 11 to 14. The trip aims to review arrangements for the Philippines’ assumption of the AOT chairmanship in 2026, succeeding Malaysia.

Cambodia said it continues to fully support the ASEAN Observer Team mechanism, which plays a role in verifying and ensuring compliance with ceasefire agreements, promoting transparency, accountability and confidence-building along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
