PHNOM PENH, March 17, 2026 — Australia is exploring opportunities to invest in Cambodia’s agriculture and agribusiness sector, as the two countries seek to deepen economic cooperation, Cambodian officials said.

Agriculture Minister Dith Tina welcomed Australian investors during the Australia–Cambodia Agrifood Connection Forum held in Phnom Penh on Tuesday, highlighting Cambodia’s strong agricultural potential and growing value-added production.

He said Cambodia offers opportunities across the entire agricultural value chain, from production and processing to packaging and export, supported by improving farming systems and an expanding skilled workforce.

“Cambodia has a wide range of high-potential agricultural products with strong quality and value,” Dith Tina said, encouraging Australian businesses to invest in modern agricultural communities and large-scale production.

The minister noted that Cambodia and Australia have maintained long-standing and robust bilateral relations, with the forum aimed at strengthening partnerships, particularly in agro-trade and investment.

Cambodia has been seeking to attract foreign investment into its agricultural sector to move beyond raw exports and increase value-added processing, a key pillar of its economic development strategy.

Australia, a major agricultural exporter and investor in Southeast Asia, has supported Cambodia through technical assistance, agricultural development programs and trade cooperation, and is now looking to expand private-sector engagement.

Officials said the forum, organized with support from the Australian Embassy in Phnom Penh and business representatives, aims to connect investors from both countries and unlock new opportunities in Cambodia’s agro-industry sector.
