19 Austrian Companies Eye Investment Opportunities in Cambodia
PHNOM PENH, March 18, 2026 — A delegation of 19 Austrian companies is exploring investment opportunities and long-term partnerships in Cambodia, officials said on Tuesday, in what was described as one of the largest Austrian business missions to the country to date.
The delegation, led by Andreas Sumper, Deputy Head of Mission at the Austrian Embassy in Cambodia, took part in a Cambodia–Austria Business Forum chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who also serves as First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
The forum brought together representatives from multiple Cambodian ministries and business associations, aiming to strengthen bilateral investment cooperation and provide Austrian firms with insights into Cambodia’s market and regulatory environment.
Officials said the Austrian companies expressed strong interest in identifying investment opportunities and building sustainable partnerships, particularly in sectors linked to infrastructure, industry, agriculture, and innovation.
Sun Chanthol highlighted Cambodia’s advantages as an investment destination, including its pro-investment legal framework, macroeconomic stability, young workforce, and ongoing infrastructure development. He also pointed to the government’s efforts to combat online scams as part of improving the business climate.
The Austrian delegation welcomed the cooperation and support from Cambodian authorities, expressing optimism that the mission would lead to concrete business-to-business (B2B) engagements.
The business forum is expected to serve as a foundation for expanding Austrian corporate presence in Cambodia, contributing to industrial modernization and sustainable economic growth, officials said.
Cambodia has been actively seeking to diversify foreign investment sources beyond its traditional partners, as it positions itself as a competitive destination in Southeast Asia.
