PHNOM PENH, June 4, 2026 — The Board of Directors of the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has approved a US$100 million financing package for Cambodia’s Techo International Airport, providing significant support for the expansion of the country’s aviation infrastructure.

The approval follows more than two years of comprehensive due diligence, including technical, operational, environmental and social impact assessments. Additional procedural steps, including notification to the US Congress, are expected before the financing agreement becomes legally effective.

The financing represents a major endorsement of Techo International Airport and of Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC), one of Cambodia’s largest domestic infrastructure developers and the principal developer of the airport project.

The milestone builds on years of engagement between Canadia Group, OCIC and various American institutions, including the US Embassy in Cambodia, the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia, and major US companies such as General Electric, OTIS, Caterpillar, Ford and Apple. Through business delegations and dialogue, the parties have worked to support Cambodia’s infrastructure development and regional connectivity.

Neak Oknha Dr. Pung Kheav Se, Chairman of OCIC, welcomed the decision, describing DFC’s participation as an important partnership in the development of Techo International Airport.

“We are pleased to welcome DFC as a partner in the construction of Techo International Airport. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment between Cambodia and the United States to infrastructure development that supports growth and strengthens regional and global connectivity,” he said.

In its announcement, DFC said the investment would help expand Cambodia’s aviation infrastructure while creating broader economic opportunities through increased trade, economic growth and development.

“The investment will support the expansion of Cambodia’s aviation infrastructure and promote broader economic opportunities for trade, growth and development,” DFC said, adding that the project highlights the agency’s role in mobilising capital, expertise and innovation to strengthen critical infrastructure.

The financing is expected to further enhance Cambodia’s transportation connectivity and facilitate trade, tourism and investment, while contributing to the country’s long-term economic development objectives.

Techo International Airport, located south of Phnom Penh, is expected to become Cambodia’s largest airport and a major regional aviation hub upon full completion. The project has been identified as a key component of the country’s long-term strategy to boost connectivity, tourism and economic competitiveness.
