PHNOM PENH, April 12, 2026 — Cambodia has called on Thailand to fully implement a bilateral border agreement and accelerate joint demarcation efforts, Prime Minister Hun Manet said.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Hun Manet said both countries had reaffirmed their commitment to the ceasefire agreement reached under the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025.

He stressed that Cambodia expects Thailand to adhere to all provisions of the agreement, particularly those related to resuming border survey and demarcation work through the Joint Boundary Commission.

The agreement stipulates that both sides should prioritise demarcation in affected areas where civilians live, while ensuring safety for survey teams and maintaining that all arrangements do not prejudice the final international boundary.

Hun Manet said Cambodia hopes joint boundary mechanisms can be activated “quickly and with sincerity” to enable a clear and peaceful demarcation process.

Cambodia is fully ready,” he added, underscoring the country’s commitment to resolving border issues through dialogue and established legal frameworks.

The statement comes amid ongoing sensitivities along the Cambodia–Thailand border, where both governments have emphasised the importance of maintaining stability and avoiding escalation.

Analysts say progress on demarcation could play a key role in reducing tensions and fostering long-term peace for communities living along the shared border.
