PHNOM PENH, April 26, 2026 — Two Indonesian military officers have arrived in Cambodia to join an ASEAN observer mission monitoring the border situation between Cambodia and Thailand, Cambodia’s defence ministry said on Sunday.

The officers, Lieutenant Colonel Devi Ibrohim and Major Rangga Hadi Saputra, landed at Techo International Airport on April 25 and were received by Cambodian military liaison officials, ministry spokeswoman Lieutenant General Maly Socheata said in a statement.

The Indonesian officers will join the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), led by the Philippines, tasked with observing, verifying and reporting on the border situation to support implementation of measures agreed by Cambodia and Thailand.

Cambodia said it fully supports the observer mission and wants its role strengthened to help ensure that ceasefire arrangements and other agreed measures are fully and effectively implemented.

By welcoming ASEAN partner nations to participate, Cambodia aims to promote transparency, accountability and mutual trust, the ministry said.

The Cambodian government also reaffirmed its commitment to uphold previous agreements with Thailand, including the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee signed on Dec. 27, 2025, and the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement signed on Oct. 26, 2025.

Officials said the objective was to accelerate recovery, restore normal conditions and secure long-term peace and stability along the border.
