PHUKET, May 3, 2026 — A 37-year-old South African man has died after falling from a seventh-floor balcony at a condominium in central Phuket, with his body discovered the following morning in the building’s swimming pool, police said.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene after being alerted to the incident. Authorities said CCTV footage from late on May 1 showed the man leaving his room shortly before midnight and walking toward the balcony area, where he fell into the pool below.

Police said the victim was found without clothing when his body was recovered. His identity has not yet been officially released pending notification of relatives.

Officers have reviewed security footage and are interviewing witnesses to establish a full timeline of events. Initial findings indicate no immediate signs of foul play, though investigators said all possibilities remain under consideration.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and whether the fall was accidental, self-inflicted, or involved other factors.

Authorities said the condominium management is cooperating with the investigation, which will also examine safety measures and access conditions at the building.

Police said further updates would be provided once forensic results are available.
