Cambodia-India CINBAX II Drills End After Two Weeks of Training
KAMPONG SPEU, May 16, 2026 — Cambodia and India have concluded their second bilateral army exercise, known as CINBAX II, after two weeks of joint military training focused on interoperability, peacekeeping operations and modern battlefield tactics.
The closing ceremony was held on Saturday at the Techo Sen Phnom Thom Merech military base in Samrong Tong district, Kampong Speu province, attended by Cambodian army commander Mao Sophan and Indian Ambassador to Cambodia Vanlalvawna Bawitlung.
According to Cambodian military officials, the exercise focused on strengthening operational coordination, professional exchanges and confidence-building between the armed forces of the two countries within the framework of United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Training activities included command post exercises, tactical manoeuvres, live-fire drills, cordon and search operations, house intervention exercises and exchanges on advanced technologies such as drone and counter-drone systems.
Cambodian officials said the drills also reflected expanding defence cooperation between the two countries through training, capacity-building and military exchanges.
Speaking during the ceremony, Mao Sophan described CINBAX as more than a military exercise, calling it “a symbol of solidarity, friendship and strong partnership” between Cambodia and India.
He also highlighted longstanding historical and cultural ties between the two nations and noted India’s role in supporting Cambodia’s reconstruction efforts after 1979.
Indian Ambassador Vanlalvawna Bawitlung said the exercise demonstrated growing trust, mutual understanding and cooperation between the armies of both countries.
Both sides praised participating troops for conducting the drills with professionalism, unity and mutual respect.
The exercise marks the latest step in expanding security and defence relations between Cambodia and India amid broader regional efforts to strengthen military cooperation and peacekeeping capabilities.
