Chinese Man Killed in Fall From Sixth Floor Pattaya Hotel
PATTAYA, May 21, 2026 — A Chinese tourist died after falling from the sixth floor of a hotel in South Pattaya during the early hours of Thursday, police said, as investigators continued to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police from Pattaya City Police Station were called to the hotel at around 3:35 AM after reports that a foreign tourist had fallen onto a glass canopy above the building’s entrance.
Officers and rescue workers arriving at the scene found the body of a 33-year-old Chinese man suspended on a steel support beam after crashing through the glass roof. The victim was wearing only boxer shorts and large amounts of blood were visible beneath the shattered canopy.
Broken glass was scattered across the hotel entrance while police secured the area for forensic examination.
Investigators later searched the sixth-floor room where the tourist had been staying and found another Chinese man asleep inside. Officers also discovered alcohol bottles and discarded seed shells scattered across the room, although authorities said there were no signs of a struggle or forced disturbance.
Police said the deceased had arrived at the hotel with a group of Chinese friends occupying several rooms and that they had been staying at the property for two nights. The other Chinese national sharing the room is being questioned as part of the investigation.
A hotel security guard told investigators he heard a loud crashing sound before discovering the victim’s body suspended on the damaged steel structure outside the hotel entrance.
Rescue workers used ropes to recover the body from the canopy before transferring it to Pattaya Patamakun Hospital. Authorities later arranged for the remains to be sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Police General Hospital in Bangkok for a post-mortem examination.
Police have not confirmed whether the death was accidental, intentional or linked to any other factors. Detectives said witness interviews and evidence collection remain ongoing.
