HANOI, June 10, 2026 — Cambodia and the United Kingdom have agreed to further diversify and expand bilateral relations and cooperation, as Prime Minister Hun Manet met with Seema Malhotra, the United Kingdom’s Minister for the Indo-Pacific, on the sidelines of the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum in Hanoi on June 9.

During the meeting, Minister Malhotra expressed satisfaction with the steady progress in Cambodia-UK relations and praised the growing cooperation between institutions of both countries. She highlighted the close partnership in public financial management and welcomed efforts to attract greater British investment into Cambodia.

The British minister also underscored the importance of diversifying the United Kingdom’s international partnerships through deeper engagement with ASEAN member states. She said stronger connections with countries in Southeast Asia would create opportunities to share expertise, best practices and development experience across the region.

Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed the positive momentum in bilateral relations and expressed appreciation for the United Kingdom’s contributions to Cambodia’s socio-economic development. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the UK across a range of sectors, including trade, investment, education, capacity-building and people-to-people exchanges.

Both sides also discussed opportunities to further enhance economic cooperation and expand business links, while exploring new areas of collaboration that could bring mutual benefits to both countries.

The meeting reflected the growing interest of both Cambodia and the United Kingdom in broadening their partnership amid increasing engagement between ASEAN and key international partners.
