SIEM REAP, 9 July 2026 — A high-level Malaysian military delegation led by the country’s armed forces chief arrived in Siem Reap province on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, for a four-day official and friendship visit aimed at strengthening military cooperation between Malaysia and Cambodia.

According to the General Command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, the delegation is led by Malaysian Armed Forces Chief General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Haji Malek Razak bin Sulaiman.

The delegation arrived in Siem Reap on Wednesday morning to begin its official visit to Cambodia, which is scheduled to run from 8 to 11 July.

The visit has three main objectives, including strengthening and expanding military cooperation and friendly relations between the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and the Malaysian Armed Forces.

The two sides are expected to use the visit to further enhance bilateral military ties and improve the effectiveness of existing defence cooperation.

The visit also marks General Malek Razak’s formal introduction to Cambodia following his recent appointment as chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

A third objective is to visit and offer encouragement to Malaysian personnel currently serving as members of the ASEAN Observer Team.

The visit comes as ASEAN observer personnel continue their mission in connection with regional efforts to promote peace, stability and confidence-building.

The Malaysian military delegation’s four-day visit is expected to further strengthen defence cooperation and friendly relations between Cambodia and Malaysia.

It is also expected to support joint efforts by the two countries to promote peace, stability and security in the region.
