BEIJING, 16 July 2026 — China Energy International Group Co., Ltd. has expressed interest in expanding its investment portfolio in Cambodia, targeting new sectors including cement manufacturing, clean water treatment and renewable energy, during a meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet in Beijing.

The meeting took place on 15 July during Hun Manet’s working visit to China, where he is attending the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) from 15-17 July.

During the meeting, Qiao Xubin, chairman of China Energy International Group, briefed the Cambodian prime minister on the company’s operations in Cambodia and thanked the Cambodian government and relevant ministries for their continued cooperation and strong support for its business activities.

Qiao said the company’s operations in Cambodia initially focused on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) for major energy infrastructure projects. However, the company is now seeking to diversify its investments by expanding into cement production, water treatment and renewable energy.

He also expressed satisfaction with the company’s contribution to the development of Cambodia’s energy sector.

In response, Hun Manet welcomed the company’s continued confidence in Cambodia and its intention to invest in additional high-potential sectors.

The prime minister underscored that the development of clean energy remains one of the Royal Government’s key priorities. He noted that renewable energy currently accounts for approximately 62% of Cambodia’s energy mix, with the government aiming to increase that share to 70% by 2030.

Hun Manet also highlighted Cambodia’s interest in adopting advanced technologies to improve the efficiency and capacity of the country’s electricity generation system.

He reaffirmed the Cambodian government’s commitment to supporting investors and ensuring a favourable business environment, while encouraging China Energy International to maintain close coordination with relevant ministries and institutions to facilitate the successful expansion of its investments in Cambodia.
