BEIJING, 16 July 2026 — Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence, trade, investment and law enforcement during talks in Beijing on Thursday, reaffirming the two countries’ “ironclad friendship.”
Hun Manet is visiting China to attend the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and undertake a working visit.

During the meeting, Li described China and Cambodia as good partners for common development and said Beijing was ready to work with Phnom Penh to advance practical cooperation under the “Diamond Hexagon” framework, as well as the Industrial Development Corridor and the Fish and Rice Corridor.

He said China would continue supporting the implementation of major infrastructure projects in Cambodia, expand bilateral trade and encourage more capable Chinese enterprises to invest in the Kingdom.

Li also called for deeper cooperation in emerging industries, including new energy, artificial intelligence, the digital economy and advanced manufacturing, to create new drivers of economic growth for both countries.

In addition, he proposed strengthening people-to-people exchanges through greater cooperation in education, culture and the media.

On security cooperation, Li said both countries should intensify joint efforts to eliminate the networks behind online gambling and telecommunications fraud to better protect their citizens.

Hun Manet reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to maintaining its longstanding friendship with China, saying Phnom Penh would continue to adhere firmly to the one-China principle regardless of changes in the international environment.

The Cambodian prime minister said Cambodia was ready to maintain close high-level exchanges with China while expanding cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure development, new energy, connectivity and cultural exchanges.

He also pledged stronger law enforcement cooperation to combat online gambling and telecom fraud, while expressing Cambodia’s readiness to enhance multilateral coordination with China to promote regional and global peace, stability and development.
