Cambodia’s New Frigate Koh Kong Sen Chey Conducts First Sea Training Exercise
PHNOM PENH, 9 Aug 2026 — Cambodia’s Frigate No. 622, Koh Kong Sen Chey, conducted its first sea training exercise in Cambodian waters on Saturday, highlighting the country’s growing naval capabilities.
Former Cambodian Defence Minister Tea Banh said on his official Facebook page that he attended the frigate’s first training voyage on the morning of August 8, 2026, as the vessel conducted exercises in Cambodia’s maritime waters.
The Koh Kong Sen Chey is a Cambodian naval frigate provided by the Chinese government. The vessel arrived in Cambodia in April 2026, according to the information provided.
The first training exercise marks a new phase in the vessel’s operational deployment and is expected to contribute to the training and operational capabilities of the Cambodian naval forces.
The frigate is designated No. 622 and named Koh Kong Sen Chey, after Koh Kong province.
