16-year-old Thai pupil alleges teacher traded grades for sex

BANGKOK, Aug. 25, 2026 — A secondary school in Thailand’s Chon Buri province has ordered a mathematics teacher to stop teaching after a 16-year-old pupil accused him of sexually assaulting her and offering academic benefits in exchange for sexual contact, officials said.

The girl’s mother filed a complaint at Bang Lamung Police Station on Aug. 23, accompanied by her daughter and Sutthinee Nuchanart, head of the Chon Buri Children’s Home and Family Office.

The school director said on Aug. 24 that an internal inquiry had found grounds for serious disciplinary action.

The teacher and school have not been publicly identified. The teacher remains an accused person and has not been dismissed or transferred. Decisions on those measures fall under the Chon Buri-Rayong Secondary Educational Service Area Office.

The pupil, identified only as Ms B, told police that she had been struggling with her studies and alleged that the teacher offered help with assignments, better grades and the possibility of avoiding an examination.

She also alleged that he provided examination answers for her to copy so she could obtain the expected grade, before persuading her to meet him outside school.

According to her complaint, the teacher first took her to a resort in Bang Lamung where guests were required to be naked in a shared swimming pool. She alleged that he touched her there.

On another occasion, she said, he took her to a room, asked her for a massage and then requested sex.

The pupil alleged that a condom was used during the first sexual encounter but not the second. She also alleged that the teacher repeatedly touched her inappropriately at school.

She told police she secretly recorded a video that she says shows the teacher’s hand beneath her skirt.

The girl’s 42-year-old mother said her daughter had previously been cheerful but became quiet and withdrawn before telling her that she had been sexually assaulted twice.

The school director said a video clip allegedly showing indecent conduct by a teacher began circulating among pupils on July 13.

The school launched a confidential inquiry and, two days later, formed an investigative committee after determining that there was sufficient evidence to proceed, the director said.

The teacher shown in the clip, the pupil and her mother were called to provide initial statements. The school subsequently submitted documents and physical evidence to the education authorities, which can establish another investigative committee and impose serious disciplinary penalties.

The family said the school later prepared a handwritten document describing the teacher and pupil as being in a relationship. According to the family, the document proposed that the teacher transfer to another school, that the girl receive 50,000 baht ($1,550) for psychological distress, and that the pupil and her mother be held responsible if video clips were released after the agreement was signed on July 15.

The teacher has worked at the school for more than seven years and has supervised Reserve Officer Training Corps students and other school projects. The director said there had been no previous complaint against him.

Police have inspected the resort mentioned in the complaint. Officials from the Children’s Home and Family Office are expected to take the girl for a medical examination to gather further evidence.

The allegations have not been independently established, and the teacher remains entitled to due process.
