Man Dies After Falling from Escalator at Bangkok’s Terminal 21
BANGKOK, September 2, 2026 — A man believed to be in his 30s has died after falling from a moving escalator inside Bangkok’s Terminal 21 shopping centre near the Asok intersection.
Emergency responders and police were called to the shopping centre at around 9:50 p.m. on August 31, following reports that a man had fallen from the fourth floor.
The man was found unconscious and not breathing, suffering severe injuries and multiple fractures from the impact. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
According to witnesses who spoke to Lumpini police, the man had been travelling alone down an escalator from the fourth floor. They said he was about halfway down when he suddenly grabbed the handrail before falling. The impact startled shoppers in the surrounding area.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including what may have caused the fall. Authorities had not released further details about the man’s identity at the time of reporting.
Terminal 21 is located beside BTS Asok and MRT Sukhumvit stations, making it one of Bangkok’s busiest shopping and transport areas, frequented by tourists, foreign residents and business visitors.
