Body Found in Suitcase in Pattaya, Foreigner Under Investigation
PATTAYA, 27 June 2026 – Thai police are investigating a foreign man in connection with the discovery of a body concealed inside a large suitcase abandoned near a railway line in Pattaya, Chon Buri, with investigators believing the victim may be a 17-year-old girl who was previously reported missing.
The suitcase was found shortly after midnight on 27 June near the railway tracks behind Pattaya Floating Market. Officers who opened it discovered a body folded inside.
During a preliminary examination, investigators identified a tattoo matching that of the missing teenager. However, police said the victim’s identity has not yet been formally confirmed and will depend on forensic identification and a post-mortem examination.
The case has drawn widespread public attention as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death and identify those responsible.
The investigation is being led by Pattaya City Police Station Superintendent Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyu, with Deputy Superintendent of Investigations Pol. Lt. Col. Siriwat Khatchamat heading the inquiry. Officers from Nong Prue Police Station are also assisting the investigation.
Police have sealed off the area while forensic officers collect evidence. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage, examining forensic evidence and interviewing witnesses to trace the movements of a foreign man linked to the investigation.
According to investigators, CCTV footage reportedly shows the foreign man, who was already under investigation in connection with the girl’s disappearance, transporting the suitcase on the back of a motorcycle before abandoning it near the railway line. Police are also comparing the recovered suitcase with surveillance images showing a foreign man wheeling a similar suitcase out of a condominium in Pattaya’s Jomtien area to determine whether the evidence is connected.
Authorities stressed that forensic examinations remain ongoing and that no official confirmation of the victim’s identity has yet been issued as the investigation continues.
