BREAKING: Bus Erupts in Flames After Train Collision in Bangkok BREAKING: Bus Erupts in Flames After Train Collision in Bangkok

BANGKOK, May 16, 2026 — A passenger bus burst into flames after being struck by a train near the Rama 9 junction in Bangkok on Saturday afternoon, causing major traffic disruption along one of the capital’s busiest transport corridors.

The collision occurred at around 3.40 p.m. near the Makkasan railway crossing on Asok-Din Daeng Road, according to local traffic monitoring outlet FM91 Trafficpro.

Authorities said the train struck a public bus travelling from the Rama 9 intersection toward Asok Phet junction.

The impact triggered a fire that rapidly engulfed the bus, sending flames and smoke rising above the crash site as emergency responders rushed to contain the blaze.

Rescue workers and firefighting teams were deployed to the scene while traffic police diverted vehicles away from the affected area.

Officials warned motorists to avoid the Asok-Din Daeng route and nearby roads unless necessary, as severe congestion quickly spread through surrounding districts.

At the time of reporting, authorities had not confirmed the number of casualties or injuries linked to the incident.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation.

The accident occurred in the busy Makkasan area, a major transport link connecting Bangkok’s central business districts with eastern sections of the city, where road traffic intersects with railway crossings.

Local media outlet Naewna reported that emergency operations continued into the afternoon as officials assessed damage and examined the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Further updates are expected after investigators complete an initial inspection of the scene and authorities release details regarding injuries and possible causes.
