Cambodia Advances Plans for National AI and Data Science Research Center
GRENOBLE, 13 July 2026 — Cambodia has signed two cooperation agreements with France’s Grenoble Alpes University (UGA) to strengthen digital technology training and research and advance the development of a National AI and Data Science Research Center.
The agreements were signed during a visit by a high-level Cambodian delegation to Grenoble Alpes University in Grenoble, France, on July 10, 2026.
The Cambodian delegation witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Cambodia’s Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and UGA aimed at establishing a comprehensive framework for cooperation in digital technology education, training and research.
A second tripartite partnership agreement was signed between the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology and Grenoble Alpes University concerning the National AI and Data Science Research Center project.
The agreements are expected to strengthen Cambodia’s capacity in advanced digital technologies and expand cooperation between Cambodian and French academic and research institutions.
During the visit, the Cambodian delegation also explored opportunities for broader cooperation through meetings with leading French institutes and research laboratories.
Strategic discussions focused on expanding education and research cooperation in several advanced technology fields, including cybersecurity, microelectronics, quantum computing, and space and satellite engineering.
The partnerships form part of Cambodia’s efforts to strengthen domestic expertise, research capacity and technological innovation as the country accelerates its digital transformation.
The cooperation with Grenoble Alpes University is also expected to provide opportunities for greater knowledge exchange, advanced research and human resource development in emerging technologies.
Through the new partnerships, Cambodia aims to build stronger local capacity in artificial intelligence, data science and other cutting-edge digital technologies while developing closer links with international universities and research institutions.
The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications said the strategic partnerships demonstrate its commitment to building strong domestic capacity in advanced digital technology research and innovation.
